CTCPA actions on food waste in 2026

Published on: 03/05/2026

Since January 1, 2021, all agri-food operators must comply with the regulatory requirement to implement a food waste reduction program, including conducting an assessment. How can you comply with the CTCPA?

• With the Guide to diagnosing food waste in the food industry – CTCPA x PACT’ALIM from July 2025.
• With CTCPA INTER or INTRA training: Taking action on food waste with CTCPA.

At the same time, the CTCPA continues to be involved in this area with:

Participation in 2025 in the États généraux de la lutte contre le gaspillage alimentaire(National Conference on Combating Food Waste), launched by the deputy and former minister Guillaume Garot. Three working groups bringing together nearly 200 stakeholders (including the CTCPA) produced a 2030 Agenda against food waste, comprising 55 proposals, which was presented to the National Assembly on February 11.

The CTCPA and PACT'ALIM also displayed a poster presenting the guide. Congressman Garot announced the drafting of a bill based on certain proposals in this 2030 Agenda.

Some key proposals to remember:

o Generalize and support the implementation of mandatory diagnostics
o Establish a National Council for Action Against Food Waste to continue the commitment and coordination of stakeholders
o Set up a digital platform centralizing information on the fight against food waste
o Strengthen communication around the National Anti-Waste Label

Participation in 2026 in efforts to develop a national anti-food waste label for the agri-food industry, following on from labels already finalized for the distribution and catering sectors. The label criteria are being developed in working groups bringing together all stakeholders, under the auspices of AFNOR and the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

The CTCPA is participating as co-leader withthe Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME) in the "measures" working group, in order to share feedback and technical expertise gained from developing the IAA guide. The CTCPA will also participate in the PACT'ALIM "mirror" working group on waste.
