Introduction
Unintentionally Added Substances (UAS) pose a growing challenge for manufacturers of materials intended to come into contact with food. Originating primarily from raw materials, manufacturing processes, chemical reactions, or recycling streams, they raise complex issues regarding food safety and regulatory compliance.
Identifying and characterizing these substances, as well as assessing the associated risks, now poses a major challenge for manufacturers, given the evolving regulatory requirements and the ongoing refinement of analytical and toxicological approaches.
