The context of the PACALEG project

Today, the human population is growing and available resources are limited. To meet these challenges, it is necessary to rethink our consumption and turn to more sustainable diets that can both effectively fight against malnutrition and the challenge of climate change. Pulses are productions capable of responding in part to these challenges because they have many environmental, economic and nutritional advantages. By developing their production in the South PACA region, and by promoting their consumption, which is still quite limited, we can work towards more sustainable farming and food systems. The PACALEG project has been implemented to meet this mission.

The objectives of the PACALEG project

- Study the feasibility of structuring a local production and processing chain for dried vegetables, by initiating this process through the development of new products
- To develop in the region a leguminous sector which will be an opportunity for processors and producers to develop and market products based on dried vegetables.
