Cleantech in the agricultural and agri-food sectors

Published on : 21/09/2021

The thematic focus "Cleantech in the agricultural and agri-food sectors" is available

This thematic focus was produced by the CTCPA for Valorial.

Agri-food industries and farms must adapt to climate change and face the scarcity of resources. These environmental issues are already at the heart of their problems and they must integrate them into their development strategy.

Cleantech, or clean technologies, for sustainable factories and farms appear as one of the possible solutions to be implemented. These cleantechs include all technologies developed with a view to respecting the environment and reducing the consumption of natural resources.

The objective of this report is to identify and briefly present the cleantechs currently available to meet the main challenges of the agricultural and agri-food sectors. First, an overview of existing cleantechs has been drawn up for each of the sectors studied - crop production, animal production, agri-food industries - with regard to the themes covered by the study: energy, water, inputs, co-products. This overview is not exhaustive and is likely to change frequently in the coming years.

This report is the result of extensive bibliographic research and interviews with professionals involved in the sectors. The most relevant cleantechs have been the subject of detailed sheets, presenting the technologies, their benefits, their maturity, the difficulties of implementation and some economic elements.
