Introduction
Food packaging, much more than a simple container, plays a crucial role in food safety. From the first glass jars in the 19th century to modern plastic materials, its evolution has always been linked to quality preservation and risk prevention. Yet, despite progress, recent health crises demonstrate that controlling packaging-related hazards remains an ongoing challenge.
To meet these challenges, structured management has been developed around tools such as HARA (Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment), essential for identifying, assessing and controlling risks specific to materials and manufacturing processes. International certifications such as BRCGS Packaging, IFS PACsecure and ISO 22000 now reinforce the requirements of manufacturers and distributors.
In this article, you'll find out more about historical developments, current risks and assessment methods, as well as the support offered by the CTCPA to help you make your food packaging safer and meet regulatory and customer expectations.
