Development of a range of low FODMAP ready meals & pre-production: the CTCPA supports BellyCare

Published on: 09/01/2024

The CTCPA is supporting BellyCare in the development of heat treatment scales for its range of pasteurized Low-FODMAP ready meals, the manufacture of pre-production runs and the launch of its business. The start-up will be the first user of the Beauvais FoodLab, the new technology hall of the CTCPA and UniLaSalle. Mélissa BERTIN, co-founder, talks to us about our support.

"The support of the Hauts-de-France region, UniLaSalle our school and CTCPA our technical partner naturally led us to produce our first dishes at the FoodLab!"

BellyCare is a start-up with UniLaSalle's entrepreneurship label. It will be the first start-up to work in the FoodLab, the new multi-process agri-food technology hall of the CTCPA and UniLaSalle (More information).

Our mission? To support people suffering from digestive disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome, with a range of pasteurized Low-FODMAP ready meals to make their daily lives easier. The meals will be delivered nationwide and marketed from next February.

The company is made up of 3 UniLaSalle alumni: Melissa Bertin, Maxime Blanc and Rémy Degrolard. Incubated within Euralimentaire and Innov'a (formerly Amiens Cluster), the startup won over the jury of the Fonds Régional d'Incubation (FRI) with the support of the CTCPA and was awarded a €13,000 grant for its innovative project.

Nicolas MARISSAL (CTCPA), Marie HEBERT (CTCPA), Rémy DEGROLARD (BellyCare), Mélissa BERTIN (BellyCare), Carla LUCET (CTCPA), Maxime BLANC (BellyCare)

Thanks to this initial funding, BellyCare was able to receive support for all the technical requirements linked to the feasibility study of its project: development of heat treatment scales for its range of dishes, determination of their best-before date and precise nutritional composition including FODMAPs, then regulatory validation of labeling. The BellyCare team is supported by Carla LUCET, CTCPA's National Start-up Manager, who helped them prepare and secure their business launch, by validating the start-up's cost structure and business plan. Marie HEBERT and Nicolas MARISSAL, Technology Project Managers at the CTCPA in Amiens, assisted the team with their R&D trials. Nicolas, who has been managing the FoodLab since September 2023, will welcome them to the new platform in January 2024, where they will complete their R&D trials and produce the first 350 pre-series of their crowdfunding campaign conducted on Ulule a few months ago, before producing weekly at the FoodLab for their commercial launch via their online sales site.
